Oh yeah, I said it. All this cat is, is a goddame backup singer. He's one of the best producers if not the best and he has some awesome albums out, but he can't make a single without having someone featured in it. Come on, name one song that's good from him, that's just him in it. It's not even that I don't like his voice or lyrics, because I like them both. He just hasn't made a song by himself that I like and will have rotate in my cd player more than one time. Most of his songs nowadays that are off the hook have either Eminem or Snoop in it (by the way, him and snoop combine to make killah songs). Anyways ...

Dre's a collab nigga... he tha type that dont like makin songs on his own, but when he collabs his tight, n I think he makin peepz like him betta, cz if he makes a song alone you might get bored of his tone. I agree on your Production quote, hes one of the best. His voice n lyrics are off the chain but personally, I wont like to hear a whole song done by himself... 'Californication R' fo ex.. aint bad but aint good. Dr. Dre needs ppl wit him, not to back him up, but the contrary, so he backs them.

I really think he needs to put out one last album though. Detox probably would have made him a legend across the board in almost every category - producing (which he already owns), lyrics, etc.

Aye, I sort of agree with you. Dre should make one more album, and he should show us what he's made of-ON HIS OWN. Dre's songs (on his own or not) always kick ass. Eminem's also only making one more album, which sucks. Argh...

Even though 'Dre has done his albums in collaberation with other artists, I still look at him as a producer!!! He is, by far, one of the absolute best producers EVER to work in hip hop!! But, I think he set a new standard when he came out with the Chronic....HIS album...he rapped on it....AND he produced it!! That album (kinda) made it "OK" for other producers to be in the videos & on the songs..not JUST in the studio!! Now, we got P. Diddy (who was on alotta Biggie's songs) and Lil Jon (who DEFINITELY CAN NOT RAP, but can SURE hype up a crowd) makin their own albums consisting of collaberations with other artists. I'm not sure if I would really enjoy 'Dre by himself. He always has new & incredible rappers on his albums (Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Rage, RBX). But one thing's for sure.....he set the standard for the newer producers to follow and that's what makes him so great!!

Scratch Magazine had an article on him and he was gon' come out with a new album....but instead he took the beats he had and gave to people he's producin because(and I quote)"It would take me about 9 months to record my own album and in that time i can put out 3 or 4(of sum1 else's)"
